*Minimum Qualifications:* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is preferred.
Proven experience as a Treasurer or in a similar financial role or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
*Major Duties:* · This position is responsible for statutory duties including all city finances (GL, A/P, A/R, Payroll, etc.
) elections, notices, record keeping, tax collecting, clerical and administrative duties; · Work with the City Administrator to prepare the City's annual operating budget * Reviews budget comparisons and prepares budget amendments for approval by the City Council; * Plans, coordinates and organizes financial audits and serves as liaison with external auditors; files audit with appropriate agencies as required by law; * Communicates with City Administrator and elected officials regarding the City's financial operations; * Prepares reports, financial statements and other correspondence related to departmental activities, direction and accomplishments; * Manages the City’s revenue collection for multiple departments ensuring daily liquidity and proper cash position.
Oversees cash management services including daily cash activities and recording of revenue for sales tax, income tax, use tax, personal property replacement tax, video gaming tax, and other taxes; * Attends City Council meetings as required; * Oversees the City's accounts receivable and payable, reconciles bank statements, troubleshoots payment processing errors; * Prepares and files City financial documents and reports with State and Federal agencies as required by law; * Performs other duties as assigned.
*Knowledge Required by the Position:* * Ability to develop and support the administration of a municipal operating budget; * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, employees and the public; * Ability to manage a city-wide computerized accounting system; * Ability to organize data and compile clear, concise reports; * Excellent written and verbal communication skills; * Extensive knowledge of municipal finance, budget administration and governmental accounting standards; * Knowledge of City ordinances, policies and procedures; * Knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment; * Knowledge of the Uniform Chart of Accounts; * Skill in using a variety of computer programs for administrative functions.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $52,000.
