Description
The Associate Provost for Student Succes (APSS) provides strategic leadership and a focus on innovation for institution-wide Saluki Student Success initiatives that will inspire the faculty, students, and staff to greater academic excellence.
Examples of Duties Oversee the planning, assessment, budget and general management of all Saluki Student Success initiatives and programs; • Provide leadership, oversight and coordination for institution-wide student advising and retention initiatives; • Direct supervision of campus-wide tutoring services and staff; • Coordinate UNIV 101, the first-year seminar course; • Assist with the development and coordination of supplemental/corequisite instruction; • Collaborate with student affairs on First-year Experience and Living Learning Community initiatives and programming; • Collaborate with faculty to develop and then coordinate Freshman Interest Groups, FIGs; • Contribute to the SIU Student Success Council and EAB Navigate team; • Research, develop and coordinate high-impact and best practices for student success, aligning with the University’s (IMAGINE2030) and Academic Affair’s strategic plans; • Provide training, programming and professional development for areas of responsibility; • Foster a campus environment of inclusive excellence; • Commit to ethical and high standards in the education enterprise, cultural diversity and equal opportunity; • Advise and represent Academic Affairs with internal and external constituencie Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree; • Three years of experience in administration at the program coordinator/director level or above; • Experience working with diverse student populations; • Experience with student success program design, implementation, assessment and evaluation; • Record of effective collaboration with administrators, faculty, staff and students; • Record of effective supervisory, organization and communication skills; and • Ability to work across units and disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications: • Five years of experience with student success program design, implementation, assessment and evaluation; • Experience in an institutional leadership position; • Collaboration experience with both academic and student affairs interests and structures; and • Doctoral degree.
