Description Governors State University is a minority-serving institution and emerging Hispanic-serving institution in the Chicago Southland region seeking to hire full-time, tenure track positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor and University Lecturer.
Employment will start for the Fall 2024 semester with hiring continuing until positions are filled.
Qualified applicants will have earned Doctoral degrees in Addiction Studies with industry experience.
We are seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Addictions counseling and treatment Leadership and Program Management Clinical supervision Research methods and skills The successful candidate will be expected to a) have outstanding teaching skills to teach and update graduate courses b) have experience working with non-traditional and diverse student populations c) assist with the development of academic program and assessment and d) participate in appropriate professional development including serving on committees, maintaining a strong record of scholarship, and cultivating good connections with industry partners.

Located within the Department of Addiction Studies and Behavioral Health (ASBH), the division of Addiction Studies, in the College of Health and Human Services, offers the Master of Health Sciences in Addiction Studies.
The dynamic and committed program faculty serve approximately 200 students in ASBH at the undergraduate and graduate level, including both domestic and international students, as part of our mission to prepare students to succeed in a global society.

Required and Preferred Qualifications Minimum Qualifications PhD, EdD or Doctorate in Addiction Studies or related field with a minimum of 1 year teaching in a university setting (ABD candidates may be considered); Experience in the addiction field; Knowledge and ability to teach a wide range of graduate courses; Documented record of an ability to make intellectual contributions through scholarly publications/presentations; Ability to complement the program’s strengths.
Preferred Qualifications Teaching and/or professional experience in the field.
Interest in and ability to develop and teach online (web-based) courses.
